STAND UP WRITING INTENSIVE

Email booking@jmscomedy.com for more information and to register for the next Stand Up Writing Intensive course

The point of this course is to strengthen your comedy writing muscle and receive accountability to help you do so. It's meant to light a fire under your ass to write, and to punch up and build your ideas in a cooperative writers room setting. The majority of class will simply be taking turns sharing premises and jokes, and having the group throw out ideas for tags, directions to go, ways to build, better ways to deliver. This is effectively a writer's room for your individual stand up.

You will be expected to show up with material each week. It can be as new as an idea for a premise, or a polished bit you'd like to try and add tags to or get help cutting the fat on for time if you're looking to tighten a specific set.

Each course will go up to 3 hours depending on how much material everyone brings, with equal time offered to each person in class. Any unused time at the end can be an open forum for questions/more pitches/etc. The group will offer accountability, not only for writing, but for doing mics or reaching out for shows with a weekly check-in at the top of each class.
